Dumpster Diving

OK, so, I didn't actually get this out of the dumpster, just next to it. But, lets face it, If it was in there, I would have gone in after it!

At my last apartment, residents would leave all kinds of big ticket items next to the dumpsters. Beaten mattresses, worn out tables, the occasional stray shopping cart, but nothing that was of great interest to my hearts desires. Well, one evening, I was throwing the trash while waiting for a friend to arrive for our weekly Jacuzzi ritual, and I saw this beauty!! Yes, someone was throwing this away!

I had just recently bought a new flat screen TV and was propping it on top of my dresser "temporarily" which always means, that's where its going to stay until I'm not too lazy and cheap to go buy a TV stand. Well, this hutch was just too perfect! Bummer for my friend Amber because as soon as she arrived I made her help me drag this bad boy to the garage. Which, I found out that im super weak and she practically carried it on her back all by herself.

There really wasn't any room in my bedroom at the time for the hutch but I knew that I would be re-locating soon and so it hung out in the garage keeping the Christmas decor and dusty yoga ball some great company. There were only minor wear and tear damages. A hing that needed to be re-attached and it also needed a good cleaning. But really, this sucker was FREE so no complaints here. Except for the eye roll when I told my friend Blake that I wanted to paint it a very light, light, light, emphasis on the light, pink :)

I moved 4 weeks ago and I was finally able to prop this bad boy up in my new bedroom. My TV slides in like a perfect glove and underneath is my liquor cabinet. I mean, my beverage cabinet full of water and sodas ;)
